One Year of Blogging

Time is such a strange thing. It goes by so incredibly fast but at the same time it seems like a certain memory was so long ago. That’s how I feel about my blogiversary (thats what I’ve decided to call it).

I remember the idea of blogging sat in my mind for probably close to a year. It was something I had always wanted to do but had no idea how. Then, last Spring, I was really headstrong about the idea. It was something I felt I needed to do. I went to Barnes&Noble one day, sat down at the cafe section, and read through Blogging for Dummies. How cliche right? After that I researched, read articles and built my blog. I was lucky enough to have photographer friends who would take photos for me, and I just kept going from there. My first article was a style post called Earthy Vibes. I don’t cringe too much when I look back at it, but it is clear to me that I have grown a lot since then.

Throughout this year, I have gotten a lot of questions about blogging. Well, what is it? Why do you do it? Sometimes I enjoy explaining the ins and outs of it. Other times, when people joke or laugh, I am frustrated at having to defend the hobby that I love so much. Despite this, I think most people find it interesting and I like encouraging people to put themselves out there and have something for their own simple enjoyment. As far as the question, “Why do you do it?”  That’s easy.

In my late high school and early college years, I started to realize that just about everyone has some deep shit going on in some aspect of their life. I was stressed and was quite a worry wart to be honest. One day I realized I was sucking the life out of my own life. I decided I didn’t want to do that anymore. I became interested in Pinterest, Youtube, blogging…any creative content. I loved the simplicity of it all. There was no politics, no arguments, just creative work that ordinary people decided to put out there. This made me feel better, and I realized how great it was to have something to take your mind off the stress of everyday life. It reminded me that life is supposed to be fun and there’s no reason not to express that in any way you can. From these thoughts derived Delightful Days. I wanted my blog to be a place for people to go and get that simple enjoyment that I got from others.

I am by no means an expert in blogging but I am proud of Delightful Days and the work I put into it. It has taught me so much about myself and the world around me. It’s something I am always working on and trying to improve. Saying this, I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store! Thank you guys so much for joining me on this little journey of mine and I hope you…

Have a Delightful Day,

Kaitlin
